Statement Regarding Butterball Raid

As reported by the media the Hoke County Sherriff's office raided a turkey farm operated by Butterball in order to investigate complaints of cruelty.

Carolina Waterfowl Rescue had extended and offer to help law enforcement if the need arises. Included was an offer to accept turkeys that might be candidates for rehabilitation.

Its our personal opinion that animals in factory farms suffer even in what's considered industry standard acceptable conditions. If you want to help animals like the ones you see on the videos consider a local humane meat grower or go vegetarian.

CWR is a rehabilitation facility for animals and is not an animal rights group. We do not officially support either choice but after seeing the videos on the internet we feel compelled to make the suggestion.
