Need Help?

The first thing to do is text our volunteer hotline at (704) 286-6330. We can guide you through bringing an injured/sick animal to us, or refer you to another licensed wildlife organization, depending on the situation. Our hotline is available 8am to 8pm daily, year-round.

We can receive several hundred calls per day, and generally have a backlog of animals needing transportation to us.  Our transport network is an all-volunteer group. We can never guarantee that we can get an animal picked up, or how long it will take.  As of this writing, there are almost 50 birds on the list just waiting for a ride. Some will die waiting.

“What can I do while I’m waiting to hear back?”

DO NOT give the animal food or water.  Water given by well-meaning humans kills more birds than cats or other predators combined.  Do not drop fluids of any kind into a bird’s mouth. The wrong food can also kill a baby, and stop its ability to digest foods. Songbirds are fragile and need expert care to survive.

If you really want the animal to live, drive it to a rehabber, or find a way to get it to one.   In the past we have had people ask family members, friends or other people they know to drive it.  We do not turn any birds away that are brought to us. We can only do as much as we have resources for, so unfortunately, birds do die when there is no transport.  Always text our hotline first before bringing an animal to us!

Too busy to drive?  Use Uber! Uber will deliver birds to the rescue and is relatively inexpensive.  Pack the birds in a box, download the app and your small friend will be on its way to a happy life!  Tell them to go to 5403 Poplin Rd. Indian Trail, NC 28079. Be sure to contact our hotline first before sending any animals via Uber.

If you’d like to see us have more resources in the future, you can donate.  With donations we can do anything. You can start now by helping out with this and future birds by making a contribution.
